Taking to the road…
Brand Identity Design
Once you have received your bespoke logo design, ready in the file formats you need for print and web, you can start to design and print your business stationery and create your incredible content in-house, or outsource the design work, with confidence that you have the right design assets to hand.
How to use your bespoke logo
- To make those first impressions count; your business card has a vital role to play in reminding your client of who you are, what you do and how to reach you when they need you. Top tip: use both sides of your business card, why not use one side for your logo and the other side for your details.
- As your seal of approval / signature; from your business stationery (including brochures, proposals, quotes, invoices and receipts), blog posts, website, work attire, vehicle signage, through to your email signature etc. Adding your logo provides authenticity and reassurance.
- To make your mark; add to your marketing material, online presence, signs and banners. Your logo provides recognition and connection, supporting your call to action and telling your story. Your distinctive logo represents who you are and what you are all about.
- To give those all important finishing touches; add your logo to your packaging. This could be something as simple and cost effective as a sticker design or a rubber stamp of your logo, providing a lasting reminder of your business and a personal quality.
As you can see, there are many ways you can use your logo, and its strength lies in the different qualities it is able to manifest when used in each of these contexts. There are more ways than one to build upon these effects, but these are a great place to start, as and when you are ready.
Does a bespoke logo design really have that much effect?
Let’s put it into a context. We’ve recently been in the middle of sorting out some home renovations (it needs a fair bit of TLC) – but it’s quite a daunting task as there are a lot of specialist tasks requiring ‘strangers’ to have access to all areas of our home. Aside from feeling reassured they would carry out the work to a high standard, listen to and discuss our requirements, we needed to instinctively feel that we could trust them.
Usually a little bit of research irons out any moments of doubt; seeing reviews, feedback and recognising their identity across different platforms which helps to build familiarity and trust. Each of these elements have their supporting role to play in helping to make the final decision. Which part comes first? You guessed it, those first impressions – their brand identity. The visual element that starts to build recognition of the company or brand.
Visual Elements
Visual elements are such a powerful form of communication, we subconsciously draw connections through them, whether it’s through use of colour, layout, or particular style and feel. When things are as you expect them to be, it makes you feel ‘safe’. However, when there are inconsistencies and elements that juxtapose each other it generates the feeling of ‘insecurity’.
It is really important to remember the impact visual elements, your message and consistent branding, have in making your client feel at ease, to generate trust and authenticity. Your distinctive logo, although a small element in the grand scheme of things has a vital role as your key visual element.
Consistency
I know there is a lot to consider and to get your head around. Especially with all the day to day tasks of running of your business. Organising your family and home. All competing for your attention as well. However it’s really important (and beautifully satisfactory) to implement this consistency as soon as you can. To allow you to feel in control and fulfil your role as the guardian of your brand. You can start to do this with your Brand Identity Design package, laying a foundation upon which to tell your story.
Once implemented you’ll save time on decision making too, providing you with a structure to work to and build upon.
Remember you don’t have to do any of this alone!
