Having the seen the profound impact and challenges the pandemic has had on vital fundraising income streams for charities, as well as affecting our wellbeing both mentally and physically, it has also heightened key realisations. The realisation of our need for nature, the amazing work charities do every day, as well as a significant reawakening of imagination and wonder.
The challenge is to find ways to creatively bridge some of these gaps, with little effort and no cost to charities. The solution needs to dovetail in with the different charities existing processes and values, so Dorset designer and brand consultant Becks Neale got together with the local charity Wessex Cancer Trust to find a way forward.
At the heart of the exclusive designer edition t-shirts is ethical design – to design for good.
The theme of wellbeing is organically threaded through every stage; from the creative design (in the visuals, message and purpose), to the environmentally friendly product journey (from seed-to-shop-to-your-door), right through to supporting and promoting wellbeing and the amazing work of charities through each sale of t-shirt.

Wessex Cancer Trust believes there should be help and support available to everyone living with cancer, when and where they need it. Every year around 23,000 people are diagnosed with cancer within the Wessex region. A diagnosis can be a shock and have a huge impact on the entire family. Wessex Cancer Trust helps and supports anyone affected by cancer regardless of age, gender or type of cancer. Our dedicated team are committed to offering free support as long as people need it, away from a hospital environment.
An ethical, creative collaboration between Dorset designer Becks Neale and Isle of Wight based renewable energy powered factory Teemill, who sustainably produce the exclusive designer edition clothing. 10% from each sale of the ‘By your side’ t-shirt supports Wessex Cancer Trust to continue being by the side of local families living with cancer.
